Husmo HAV
RIPPLES

Husmo HAV’s first album on Øra fonogram
release: september 27 2019.

What do you get when musicians from bands such as Highasakite and The Switch, and the vivid Norwegian jazz scene unshackle themselves completely? The answer is Husmo HAV, led by trumpeter Thomas Husmo Litleskare. Be prepared for a journey into the deep where profound compositions are followed by immersive soundscapes.

Meaning ocean in Norwegian, HAV deliver ear-catching cinematic music with icy synths, atmospheric trumpet screams and haunting melodies. The band’s sound is an ecosystem of its own, overflowing with detail, and the mix of electronic and acoustic instruments make the music both massive and crystal clear at once.

Even though Husmo HAV describe their music as science-fiction jazz, critics far and wide have emphasized the references to post-rock, ambient and indie after listening to their two already released singles. No wonder, when you see who’s in the band. Synth player Marte Eberson has toured the world with indie sensations and Norwegian Grammy winner Highasakite, in addition to performing with her father, the Norwegian jazz great Jon Eberson, in their joint-venture Eberson. Drummer Tore Flatjord, an accomplished jazz musician who plays with the Norwegian Grammy winner The Switch, and world music entity Moksha. Bass player Stian Andreas Andersen is a mainstay of the much-hyped Norwegian jazz group LASSEN.

Husmo HAV’s music refuses to be pinned down by genres, even if it’s easy to point at genre-specific traits, and the result is a solid album that has no problem to stand on its own. The group was formed by Thomas, Tore and Stian in 2018, after several years of knowing each other from other bands and constellations. Soon after they were joined by Marte Eberson and the creative chemistry was obvious.
