Deeper / Further is Harneshaug’s fourth album, but first on øra.
release: january 17 2020.

“Kari Harneshaug is a Norwegian artist that delves into the alternative rock genre. Most notable for her strong, somehow abrasively delicate vocals, listeners are greeted with a captivating sound in which styles overlap to create something quite unique.” – The Guardian

Deeper / Further is Harneshaug's fourth record and it reflects the result of hard work and recordings over the last year and a half in collaboration with producer and studio technician Karl Klaseie in Øra Studio. It is a soulful journey between heartfelt ballads and expressive rock songs, which shows the way the singer has gone in recent years, when she was first referred to as Trondheim's answer to PJ Harvey, but in recent years has been referred to as a hidden music treasure in Norway where her distinctive voice and uniqueness comes to mind.

Her music is deeply rooted in the alternative pop/rock landscape, and she has released three critically acclaimed releases in recent years. It all started with "Early Morning Memories" in 2012 which was called "one of the best debuts of the year", before the rocky and rock solid sequel "7th Day Savior" came out the following year. The third release "We Were Closer to the End" was released in 2016 - an album that was recorded with great creative freedom and with the audience present during the recording in the studio. After the release of the last album, it was mentioned: "Kari's third album shows a self-taught artist with a bucket of talent that shows class and confirms her musical position where no other Norwegian artists are right now". Deeper/Further follows in the footsteps of the latest release and it is clear that a lot of space has been given to a creative and open recording process, which has led to a diverse expression and an interesting soundscape around Harneshaug's lyrics and melodies.

"This is a result of an urge to create music and a natural platform for me to express me. I love the process from working with the lyrics to the design of melody, riffs and chord progressions, to the collaboration with my fellow musicians in the studio, where we are looking for the right sound, and where the songs come to life through new sounds. The songs on the record extend to a period when life has gone from bad to worse, to a sense of impotence and perdition, and the songs are non-chronological points in this journey. The first and last song wraps the content in and possibly the outro can testify to some form of hope ”. -
