ART is Aksel rønning trio debutalbum.
Release: 7. may 2021

It is set for a young and resilient saxophone trio that takes you into a jazz world you want to settle down in. ART is Aksel Rønning Trio's first record, and is in many ways an immortalization of a long process of exploration and musical trials. This is the sound of a close musical collaboration and a good friendship within the band where trial and error are the essence of the creation - a working method Øra fancy!

The band composition happened while all the band members attended the same class at Jazzlinja in Trondheim, where they early noticed a connection in their musical backgrounds and preferences. This gave an easy start to the project where creativity could be unleashed and improvisation and distinctiveness could fit. The album clearly shows how the trio allows themselves to play what comes in with spontaneity and creative finesse. It is a detailed soundscape where all three in the ensemble work continuously to prepare and further develop the opportunities that lie ahead in time.

Aksel Rønning (22) is originally from Rælingen in Norway, but is now stationed in Trondheim. From his first interest and desire to research improvisation, he has been interested in tonal qualities. With a mantra taken from George Garzone that "your sound is your signature", he works to be able to have a personal touch on the saxophone playing, with his own sound. He implements this in his compositions by giving the rest of the band plenty of room to improvise and add what they want to the music. He writes songs dedicated to the band members' own instrumental personalities, preferably with as little material as possible, so that the music comes from the band's interaction.

Musicians:
Aksel Rønning – saxophone
Eskild Sveås Okkenhaug - double bass
August Glännestrand - drums & percussions

Her hadde vi med tre unge herrer med ei solid retning i det de holder på med og tror på.

Det ligger et voksent vemod her. Herlig vektet. Bikker aldri over. Håper ting åpner opp snart slik at man får sett disse gutta live snart. Det hadde gjort seg.
