Launch of the CD “Two good friends” with music for children and young performers. Composed by Bertil Palmer Johansen and performed by some of our leading musicians.

"Young musicians also need an alternative to Vivaldi and the Beatles".!

Bertil Palmer Johansen, composer and educator, has taken this challenge vert seriously for many years, composing a number of pieces for young musicians."Children and young people are a very demanding target group (dangerous, even) to write music for. They show no mercy. It's 'take it or leave it'. The music has to trigger something in them, almost immediately. If not, it's 'game over'. It's exciting to give them something new, too - maybe a weird sound or a melodic direction they haven’t heard before" - BPJ

We are excited to present for you this new CD "Two good friends" where Palmar Johansen has collected solo pieces and duets (piano, violin, guitar and cello) in various combinations. The music has been composed over several decades and covers a large range of genres. It is exciting that musikkforlagene.no will publish the scores at the same time. The participating musicians rank among Norway's foremost practitioners and educators on their instruments.

Bertil Palmar Johansen has composed more than 150 works, ranging from music for children and young people, through chamber music and orchestral works to full-scale opera and ballet. In recent years he has also written music based on transcription of signals from brain cells, taken from the Kavli Institute's research on memory loss. This music is part of the art / science project "Into Whitness - Lost memory" in collaboration with Nobel laureate May-Britt Moser, the Trondheim Soloists and filmmaker Johan-Magnus Elvemo. Johansen has composed the opening concert for this year's Olavsfest in Nidarosdomen - a full evening performance with soloists, choirs, dancers and orchestra.

Musicians:
Marianne Thorsen - violin
Øyvind Gimse - cello
Jarl Strømdal - guitar
Mona Spigseth - piano

Bertil is happy to give interviews and further information about the publication. He is available at bertilpj@online.no

Two good friends" is released both on CD and on various digital platforms.
